Welcome to the WAR Lab at San Diego State University!
The research we conduct in this lab aims to promote healthier and more equitable workplaces for employees with two broad areas of focus: Occupational Health Psychology (OHP) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Specifically, we use a quantitative approach to:
(1) understand the impact of various workplace stressors (e.g., workplace mistreatment, work-nonwork interface, and illegitimate tasks) on employee health and well-being, as well as potential predictors of these stressors
(2) Investigate the unique experiences of employees from marginalized groups (e.g., LGBTQ+ and Hispanic/Latinx employees) in the workplace and the impact of those experiences
Students are actively involved in several research projects at various stages and present consistently at the annual Society for Industrial-Organizational (SIOP), and Work, Stress, and Health (WSH) conferences.

We believe in using research as a tool to advocate on behalf of all employees, but especially groups that have been historically excluded from research in I-O Psychology
Promote healthy, inclusive, and equitable workplaces
Advance the science in industrial-organizational psychology
Provide students with both research and practical experience that they will be able to apply in their future careers
Dr. Rodriguez prefers to empower students by taking a more hands-off approach, which enables them to become independent researchers and practitioners while providing support when needed
